Tusker Traffickers Nabbed

Jajpur The police nabbed three smugglers named Kedar Barik, Khitij Barik and Jayanta Das along with elephant tusks in a car from Bhakuda Chhak on the National Highway No 5 under Balichandrapur police limits in Jajpur district on Saturday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team intercepted the vehicle on the highway and seized the tusks and arrested the miscreants at 9 a.m, according to the sources.

The worth of the tusks seized is estimated to be lakhs of rupees. The arrested persons are allegedly habitual offenders with multiple cases registered against them in different police stations.

They are to be forwarded to court in the afternoon
