SUM Hospital Fire Tragedy Death Toll Keeps Mounting

Bhubaneswar: Late last night two more patients injured in the SUM Hospital hire tragedy succumbed to their injuries in the Capital hospital taking the death toll to 24.

One more person undergoing treatment at SCB Hospital Sheikh Qurban of Khurda passed away this morning. Two other patients who died last night are Biswanath Behera of Dumduma area in Bhubaneswar and Rashmita Swain of Balipada area in Puri.

After the fire broke out in the hospital on Monday evening as many as 106 patients were shifted to different hospitals in the city , mostly to Capital hospital, Amri, AIIMS and KIIMS . The state govt has declared an exgratia of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased in addition to the same amount declared by SUM hospital.

Since many of the patients admitted to different hospitals are still critical , the death toll may even rise further.
