Supporters Demand Release Of Arrested Manoj Nayak
Bhubaneswar: A lot of commotion has ensued in front of Khandagiri Police Station as the media fraternity awaited with bated breath for a glimpse of the accused owner of SUM Hospital, Manoj Nayak, who surrendered in the wee hours of Thursday.
Manoj Nayak’s more than a hundred odd supporters, including women, staged a demonstration before the locked gate of the police station protesting his arrest. They are demanding his release arguing that Manoj Nayak has done a lot of philanthropic works in Odisha.
A heated argument ensued between the media persons inside the campus and Nayak’s supporters outside the shut gate.
“Don’t cook cock and bull stories for sake of TRP for your news channels. Coming over from Delhi, you can’t know the ground reality. Go to Koraput, go to Nagadda and try to collect the precarious health condition there. Manoj Nayak is a good person and doing good job. Don’t frame him.”
On the other hand, Saswati Das, Manoj Nayak’s wife, is also on the run.
Odisha DGP K.B. Singh told media that she is also liable to interrogation in this case and is likely to be arrested.
The couple are the trustees of the Shiksha O’ Anusandhan Charitable Trust that managed the 1000-bed hospital as well as a host of educational institutions in the city, including a 150-seat medical college.
On Wednesday evening, the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police had requested Ministry of Home Affairs to issue a look out notice against Nayak and his wife Saswati Das to prevent them from escaping from the country.
