Odisha: Six Lane Parallel Road Between Jaydev Vihar & Patia To Ease Traffic Congestion | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: Ambulances in Bhubaneswar will be equipped with GPS locators which will send a feed to the Smart City control centre. The feed will be directed to the traffic police which can accordingly vacate the route for the ambulances. This system will be put in place soon by Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited in collaboration with Commissionerate of Police.

While the Capital City has been expanding significantly in length and breadth, the number of vehicles has also multiplied manifold. Worst affected are the emergency vehicles, which get stuck in traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar.

A five-year-old died on Tuesday while he was being shifted from Capital Hospital to a private medical college in Patia. The mishap took place allegedly due to a traffic jam.

While traffic problem in Bhubaneswar has taken shape of a menace, the Commissionerate of Police is mooting innovative methods to make way for ambulances.

While the public and men on duty are being regularly sensitised to facilitate a vacant lane for the emergency vehicles, there are plans to build six-lane road (three-lane each) on either side of the road connecting Jaydev Vihar and Patia square. The work on this project will begin in a couple of weeks, said Traffic DCP, Sagarika Nath.
