Commissionerate Police Initiates Precautions For Deepawali
Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Initiating precautionary measures and in a bid to make the ensuing Deapawali, the Festival of Lights, safe and incident-free, the offices of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) has laid down certain conditions for sale and burning of the fire crackers.
In the conditions prior to according licences to the willing fire cracker vendors, the DCP offices mentioned that temporary fireworks shops must have inter-distance of 3 metres, outside safety distance of 50 metres and doors of the shops must not face each other. The floor area of each shop should be limited to 10-12 sq mtr and the shops should be placed in one or more rows. In case of more than one row of shops, the rows should be parallel and the doors of the shops in one row should face the closed backside of the shops in the next row.
Under no circumstances, more than 50 shops can be erected in one cluster. Besides, safety distance of 50 meters should be kept in between each cluster of shops.
The temporary sheds should be made of AC sheets or tin sheets, either one side or two sides slope.
No oil burning lamp, gas lamp, candles or naked light shall be used in the shed or within the safety distance of the sheds. Electrical lights shall be fixed to the wall or ceiling and shall not be suspended by flexible wire while switches for each shop shall be fixed rigidly to the wall and a master switch shall be provided for the row of the sheds.
Display of fireworks shall not be allowed within 50 meters of any shed/shop.
No smoking in the vicinity should be allowed.
Sale of clandestinely imported fireworks of foreign origin causing noise pollution is prohibited.
Total ban imposed on import or marketing of illegal and hazardous fireworks/crackers.
Bursting of fire crackers prohibited from 10 pm to 6 am on the day while total prohibition on bursting fire crackers in the silence zone
