Sections 144 & 129 Clamped At Markona Station
Soro: Balasore district administration on Saturday imposed Sections 144 (prohibitory orders) and later Section 129 of CrPC to disperse crowd at Markona Station following ‘rail roko’ by the irate locals.
Posse of police personnel were also deployed to avert untoward incident and maintain law and order situation.
Initially, imposition of Section 144 was announced through megaphone by the police at the station to disperse the protestors. Later, Section 129 (trespassers to be prosecuted) was imposed to dissuade the striking locals as rail traffic got adversely affected at Markona station in the district on the day following the ‘rail roko’ by the locals demanding the development of the railway station and halt of the express trains.
The Howrah-Puri Passenger train got stranded at the station.
The Manch have been on fast-unto-death strike for the last two days in the station itself as its longstanding demands are yet to be fulfilled.
It demands halt of the Utkal, Dhauli and Jagannath express trains at the station.
Besides, they also demand improvement of basic amenities at the station.
