Cuttack: Hours after Commissionerate Police claimed to have made progress in nabbing the 'psychopath' behind Cuttack serial killings, the murderer spread fear again in silver city on Sunday night.
A young woman named Sandhya Tarai of Jobra Malaha Sahi was attacked by a miscreant with a sharp weapon last night and has sustained grievous injuries on her neck.
The woman said that she was standing in the dark when a tall and heavy-built person approached her. As soon as she enquired who he was, the miscreant attacked her and fled.
While it was rumoured that the same psychopath was behind the incident, the Police Commissioner said, "It has nothing to do with previous killings. It was probably a failed chain snatching attempt as the injury is superficial.
It is notable to mention here that three labourers were murdered in Cuttack within two days last week. The modus operandi, nature of crime, weapons used and injuries suggests that a psychopath is behind the killings.
