Sundergarh: Biramitrapur police on Monday night held seven persons on charges of raping a minor girl and making the video viral on social media.
While two minors had been detained earlier, five others were arrested from nearby forest last night. Three other accused are still absconding, said sources.
Reportedly, the incident had taken place on July 8. A 17-year-old girl was attending a wedding in the village when 10 youths abducted her and took her to a nearby forest. They took turns to rape the girl and also filmed the scene.
While the girl and her family kept quiet fearing humiliation, the video went viral on social media over the last few days. Soon after that, a complaint in this connection was lodged at Biramitrapur PS by the girl’s family on Monday.
