Ganjam: Ganjam district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange has set a benchmark in public service. Going out of his way, the Collector got his hands dirty by working with farmers in a paddy field.
Reportedly, the public servant was visiting Bharasa village of Mathura panchayat under Khalikote block to review cultivation work under the National Food Security Act. While talking with the farmers about loan and insurance, Kulange suddenly rolled his pants, went down in knee-deep muddy water and joined the farmers in planting paddy saplings.
The locals and farmers were shocked to see the Collector become one of the them. Inspired by Kulange's actions, several other officials accompanying him also planted saplings. Finally, the IAS officer exchanged tips on better farm output and left the place a happy man.
