Cuttack: June 29 was a scary day for 5-year-old Dibyanshu. He was on his way back home when he fell into an open manhole and was surrounded with darkness and sewerage water.
His mother Sushmita Behera narrated, "We were returning at 9:30 pm after paying visit to a relative who was admitted in Srusti hospital at Bajrakabati. I was starting the scooter and asked my son to wait on the other side of the lane. When he was walking to the other side, he fell into an open manhole. It was raining and my son was not able to see the manhole in the dark."
"Locals gathered at the spot but no one did anything. Finally, three youths agreed to help when my son had been washed 100 metres away by the drain water. As soon as he was rescued, we rushed him to SCB Medical Hospital for treatment," she added.
Dibyanshu is back home now. However, he is not well. He had swallowed drain water that is reacting in his body. "His legs are aching and he has not been sleep. He is not healthy and is constantly vomiting," said his concerned mother.
