SC Order On Srimandir Reforms: Puri Servitors Meet Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s latest suggestion on ‘Abolition of Hereditary Sevaks/ Appointment of Sevaks’ and Allowing Entry To Non-Hindus in Srimandir, a 22-member delegation of Puri servitors met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today in presence of Puri MP Pinaki Mishra and MLA Maheswar Mohanty.

After the meeting, Mishra informed, “The servitors discussed with the Chief Minister how SC has not taken their application into consideration while issuing the recommendations. So, the three member committee that was formed in June to look into the matters of temple administration, should prepare a detailed report and submit it to the SC, before any final calls are made.”

Emphasising on the fact that Puri Temple is different from other temples in the country, Mishra added, “In Puri, living gods are worshipped whereas in other temple only idols are worshipped. So, the centuries old system of Puri should be properly communicated to the Supreme Court.”
