Rath Yatra 2018: 167 More Doctors, 160 Paramedics To Be Stationed in Puri

Bhubaneswar: In view of large number of devotees thronging Puri during the annual Rath Yatra, beginning July 14, Odisha Health and Family Welfare department has decided to deploy 167 more doctors, including 31 specialists, at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) and nearby health centres.

Such a decision was taken in a review meeting chaired by Health Minister Pratap Jena held at the State Secretariat today.

Similarly, 160 paramedics, 20 staff nurse and 194 attendants will be stationed in Puri. As many as 70 first aid centres will be opened in Puri town, its adjacent areas and along the national highway, out of which 34 will be set up by Odisha Government and rest 36 by various voluntary organisations.

All the first aid centres will be equipped with necessary medicines and emergency kits. Similarly, 68 ambulances will be stationed in select places, out of which 30 are government ambulances and rest 38 are arranged by various voluntary organisations.

Two special wards for sunstroke patients have been made operational at the Puri DHH along with 15 wheelchairs and 30 stretchers. Sufficient amount of blood have been made available at various blood banks in the district to meet any emergency.
