238 New Prison Warders Appointed By Odisha CM
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve Jail administration and strengthen the criminal justice system in the state, Prisons Directorate and Home Department selected 238 new warders who were appointed by the Chief Minister today. This step will aim at expediting the rehabilitation process of the inmates.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “This recruitment drive will develop the Prison Administration and Correctional Services department, thus reforming the facilities and services inside the jails.”
Additional Director General of Prisons, Binayananda Jha said, “With this step, we can now focus on skill development and moral education of the prisoners. Healthcare provisions for the inmates will also speedup as a lot of vacant spots have now been filled.”
Jha also added that they are currently working on setting up two Model Convict jails at Attagarh and Sundargarh.
Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Asit Tripathy said, "These new appointees will now undergo 8-9 months of training at our Berhampur inistitue. After that, they will be deployed at various jails."
