Demonetised Currency Found In Maa Mangala Temple Donation Box
Puri: Demonetised currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 amounting to Rs 12,000 have been found in the donation box of Maa Mangala Temple in Kakatpur of the district on Saturday.
Official sources said that the donation box of the temple had been opened for the last time in December 2016. It was opened after a gap of 18 months due to mismanagement in the temple trust. The box had filled to its brim and devotees had complained about not being able to donate anything.
The House Committee of the Odisha Assembly had discussed the matter with the Kakatpur MLA on June 20, after which Endowment Commissioner, Biraja Prasad asked the Tehsildar to open the donation box as soon as possible.
