Muktikanta Biswal Returns To Rourkela, Receives Grand Welcome By Public

Rourkela: After travelling 1350 kilometers on foot to Delhi followed by days of relentless hunger strike, 30-year-old protestor Muktikanta Biswal returned to his hometown after 80 days to a grand welcome by the public.

However, Biswal did not seem to be in his best spirits. He said, “I am unhappy because the hopes and dreams with which I had gone to Delhi have not come true. But, my return to Odisha does not mean that the fight ends here. I will unite the people of Rourkela and our fight will continue.”

Muktikanta was in New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and remind him of his promises made on April 1, 2015 to upgrade Rourkela’s Ispat General Hospital to a Speciality Hospital and Medical College, and construct a second bridge over River Brahmani.

He had even approached Union Minister Jual Oram, Sundergarh MP to help him meet the PM but it did not work out.
