Supreme Court Hearing On Puri Jagannath Mandir Reforms Deferred
Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court deferred its hearing on the reforms of Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri by four weeks as amicus curiae Gopal Subramanium sought for more time to submit his report, said Subhransu Padhi, counsel of the petitioner.
Gopal Subramaniam is slated to visit the temple during the second week of this month for examination of the 12th century shrine.
After a petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking curb of malpractices in the management of Shri Jagannath temple in Puri, the court issued a slew of directions to address alleged exploitation of devotees at Shri Jagannath temple and the management of its finances, including donations and offerings by pilgrims.
