Odisha Cabinet Nods 3 Major Proposals, Approves Vital Kharif 2018-19 Procurement Policy
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today accorded it seal of approval for three major proposals while most prominent among them is the Food and Procurement Policy for Kharif Marketing Season 2018-19.
Briefing media soon after the significant Cabinet meeting, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi informed that procurement target of 37 lakh metric tonne (MT) rice (55 lakh MT paddy) has been fixed for the season. The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister has also been authorized to revise the target if the need so arises.
In 2017-18, paddy to the tune of 49.06 lakh MT was procured (both Kharif and Rabi) while in terms of rice it was 33.21 lakh MT, it was informed.
