IAS Officer Vinod Kumar Awarded Again 3 Yr Jail Term In ORHDC Flat Scam


Bhubaneswar: The Special Vigilance Court today once again convicted senior IAS officer Vinod Kumar and awarded him a 3-year jail term along with Rs 50,000 fine. Five other employees have also been convicted and awarded the same 3-year jail term.

However, the then accounts officer Chitta Mallick has been acquitted by the court in the Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC)’s Rs 1.02 crore ORHDC flat scam.

According to sources, Kumar and five others have been charged of defrauding ORHDC on the alibi of giving flats to as many as 27 people. Kumar who was the MD of ORHDC during 2001 when this scam took place as a private firm and five other ORHDC officials allegedly furnished fake certificates and abused their power.
