Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government today decided to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi for two years starting from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) this year till Gandhi Jayanti of 2020.

This important decision was taken at an all party meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat also attended by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, Culture Minister Ashok Panda, noted freedom fighter and Gandhian Bhawani Charan Patnaik, Council of Ministers, MPs, MLAs and Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi prominent among others.

In his address, the Chief Minister said, “In today’s society, truth and non-violence hold much more relevance. Hence, people from all strata will be involved in this celebration.”
