Odisha Govt Responds To SOS Of ‘Harassed’ Odia Students In Tripura


Bhubaneswar: Soon after a video went viral on social media depicting Odia students of Tripura Central Government University appealing for help against harassment meted out to them by the locals there, Odisha Government woke up to the occasion forthwith as Odisha DGP immediately held talks with his Tripura counterpart and a high level team of Higher Education Department has been deputed to Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.

Odisha Higher Education Department tweeted, “On learning that Odia students were facing problems in Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, the DGP spoke to his counterpart in Tripura to ensure security of the students. Prof Radha Madhab Dash, VC, SJSU, Puri and Parmeswaran B, IAS, Director visiting Agartala to sort out the matter.”

Talking to media at State Secretariat here, Odisha Higher Education Secretary Bishnupada Sethi said, “Last night we received information on some untoward incident having taken place at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan in Agartala where the Odia students have complained against some locals having harassed them. Immediately, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) R.P. Sharma talked to his Tripura counterpart. Today morning also Odisha DGP talked to Tripura DGP.”
