‘Anti-Odisha’ Jibe & ‘Breach Of Privilege’: House Panel Asks Abhijit Iyer To Depose On Oct 11


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly House Committee today decided to serve notice to New Delhi-based journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra and summon him to depose before the panel on October 11 at 11 am.

The House Committee has been formed to probe into Abhijit’s anti-Odisha derogatory remarks and breach of privilege as he has also allegedly hurled abuses on Odisha legislators.

Chairman of the House Committee and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra informed, “Whatever the people came to know from media, both print and TV, is true. Hence, the Committee will probe if there is any breach of privilege by those statements or not. For that enquiry, Mr Iyer has to be served notice for deposition.”

“Committee today decided to serve notice to him. He has been requested to depose personally at 11 am on 11.10.2018 (October 11) in Room No 54 of Assembly here,” the House Committee chief further informed.
