Bhubaneswar: Following utter disgruntlement among the aspirants over the distribution of party tickets during the current general elections (both 21 Lok Sabha seats & 147 Assembly seats in Odisha), Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today expressed his helplessness in the wake of being targeted and getting embroiled in grave controversy.
Most of the aggrieved ticket aspirants, senior Congressmen and Congresswomen, have also resigned from Congress as well as defected to other parties where they have been either rehabilitated with tickets or convinced to wait and watch next time.
In his media reactions today amid the raging controversies, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik said, “Discontent over ticket distribution has been sparked off because we had declared from the very outset that we would field new faces this time, youths will be given more importance, etc. Hence, we have fielded 83 new faces this time out 139.”
