BJD Objects To BJP’s Press Meet Amid EC Ban Period, Demands Strict Action Against TV Channel Also | Odisha News
Bhubaneswar: Vehemently opposing to today’s press meet convened by Odisha unit BJP and addressed by Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan allegedly violating the ban period imposed by the Election Commission for such activities as the Phase-I poll is tomorrow, BJD today petitioned the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against it.
BJD also filed an additional petition against an Odia TV channel for violating the same ban in force and had its live telecast.
The BJD delegation comprised party spokepsersons Sasmit Patra, Lenin Mohanty and Sulata Deo.
Talking to media, Sasmit Patra said, “A while ago we had moved the Election Commission and complained that political parties can’t hold press meet amid the ban period. Despite that, BJP today held a press meet and thus, grossly violated the ban in force.”
