Smuggled Gold Worth Over Rs 20 Lakh Seized At Bhubaneswar Airport | Odisha News
Bhubaneswar: In yet another case of gold smuggling in Bhubaneswar, two gold bars of foreign origin were recovered from the possession of a passenger at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Wednesday.
Reportedly, the seized gold bars, made by Perth Mint, Australia, weigh around 610 grams and value at approximately Rs 20.5 lakh.
They were wrapped inside black coloured tape and concealed inside turban of a passenger namely Amarjit Singh, who had arrived at Bhubaneswar from Bangkok at around midnight and supposed to travel to Delhi at 5:15 AM today.
It was during frisking by CISF Constable (GD) PS Ray at the domestic Security Hold Area (SHA), frisking booth number two, the Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD) and Hand Held Metal Detector (HHMD) gave heavy beep sound. After thorough search in special checking room, the said gold was recovered from the turban.
