Cyclone ‘Titli’: Odisha CM Orders Closure Of Schools, Colleges & Anganbadis On Oct 11 & 12; Students’ Union Election Cancelled
Bhubaneswar: Chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat here today to take stock of Cyclone ‘Titli’ alert preparedness in Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered for closure of all schools, colleges and Anganbadi centres across the State on October 11 and 12 and also cancelled the students' union elections in view of heavy rain and Cyclone ‘Titli’.
Briefing media soon after the vital meeting, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said, “As per the latest IMD report released at 8.30 am today, Cyclone ‘Titli’ has upgraded to very severe cyclonic storm. The landfall will be very speedily at a rate of 140-150 kmph. The gusting speed is predicted at 165 kmph. The landfall on Odisha-Andhra coast is slated at 5.30 am tomorrow as per the IMD bulletin.”
“After reviewing the preparedness, the Chief Minister has ordered the Collectors of coastal districts, especially of Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur, for evacuation from the low-lying areas so that people are safe from the impending flooding.”
