CBSE Changes Class 12 English Question Paper Pattern For 2019 Board Exam


Bhubaneswar: Taking the students by surprise, Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced major changes for Class 12 English question paper in the 2019 board exams.

Consequent upon the feedback received from the various stakeholders and subsequent deliberation in the meetings of Committee of Courses of the Board and the subject experts, the following changes have been made by CBSE in Section-A-Reading of the Question Paper for English Core, Class-XII for the session 2018-19:

1: Number of Passages has been reduced to two in Section A

Existing Pattern: Two Passages of 1100-1200 words each and one Passage of 400-500 words

Revised Pattern: Two passages of 800-900 words each instead of three passages

2: Typology of Questions (for all the passages)

Existing Pattern: 6-MCQs (1 mark each), 16 Very short answer type questions including 1 on vocabulary for 1 mark, 1 short answer type question (3 marks), 1 Long answer type question (5 marks)
