Asian Para Games 2018: Odia Athlete Jayanti Behera Clinches Bronze In Women’s 200m


Bhubaneswar: Making the State proud of its sporting glory yet again, Odia para athlete Jayanti Behera clinched bronze medal in the women’s 200 m sprint event at Asian Para Games at GBK main stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Behera clocked 27.45 seconds and bagged the third position after China’s Wang Yanping with 26.45 seconds and Li Lu with 25.82 seconds, who came in second and first respectively.

The sprint was conducted in the T45/46/47 category that is reportedly a disability sport classification for people with double above or below the elbow amputations.

Born in Sakhigopal in 1999, Behera’s first international competition was the 2017 China Open Para Athletics Championship in May where she won the gold medal in 400m and registered the qualifying mark for the 2017 IPC World Para Athletics Championships. She also won silver in 200m at the same competition.
