Odisha: Single-Use Plastic Ban To Extend To All Urban Bodies From Oct 2 | Odisha News
Bhubaneswar: Ban on usage of single-use plastic will come into effect in all urban local bodies (ULBs) across Odisha from Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, Wednesday).
Forest and Environment department Principal Secretary Mona Sharma on behalf of the Governor has issued an order on Monday in this regard.
Sharma has asked the Director, Printing, Stationery and Publication to publish the said order in an extraordinary issue of the Odisha Gazette.
It may be noted here that the State government having considered all the pros and cons of use of polythene bags, thermocol and similar plastic products, the State government restricted the indiscriminate use of certain types of plastic products in five municipal corporations-Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela, Sambalpur and in Puri municipality in the first phase with effect from October 2, 2018.
