Odisha: CMC Officials Seize Single-Use Plastic Worth Rs 5 Lakhs | Odisha News
Cuttack: Seven enforcement teams of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Tuesday conducted raids on wholesalers at Malgodown area here and seized single-use polythene worth Rs 5 lakhs.
The teams seized 20 quintals of polythene from a single wholesaler in Malgodown area and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him. Also around two quintals of polythene was seized by the teams from two other shops and a fine amount of Rs 10,000 was collected from them.
Today seven teams of the CMC with the help of police conducted raids on wholesalers in Malgodown area. We have seized 20 quintals of single-use polythene from a single wholesaler-Balaji and have collected a penalty of Rs 50,000 from him. During the raids we have also seized another two quintals of polythene from two shops and have collected fine of Rs 10,000 from them," informed Avinash Rout, Deputy Commissioner, CMC speaking to reporters.
