Congress Condemns BJP MLA’s “Offensive Statement” In Odisha Assembly, Demands Apology
Bhubaneswar: As senior BJP MLA and Deputy Leader of Opposition Bishnu Charan Sethy’s allegedly offensive statement against the women of a particular community has already stirred hornet’s nest in the Assembly today with vehement protest from both ruling BJD and Congress members, Odisha unit of Congress party also demanded his apology and threatened to stage dharna till the session is underway.
Convening a press meet, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Niranjan Patnaik said, “The way Deputy Leader of Opposition Bishnu Babu of BJP has given his statement in the Assembly, the language and word he has used is absolutely unfortunate. We strongly condemn it.”
He argued, “Our Indian culture is to honour the women. His (BJP MLA Bishnu Sethy) mean attitude towards the women is uncalled for and indecent. Regretfully I would like to say that he is a senior leader of a political party and is also the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. But, he is going against the Indian culture.”
