Bakrid Celebrated With Religious Fervor & Gaiety Across Odisha | Odisha News
Cuttack/Kendrapara: Muslims across Odisha celebrated Bakrid (Eid Al-Adha or Eid Al-Zuha) on Monday with much zeal and gusto. People came together for offering their prayers in mass in various mosques and fields all across the State. Symbolising brotherhood, Muslims hugged each other and wished 'Eid Mubarak'.
In Kendrapada, thousands gathered for prayers in the old Dargah at 8:30 a.m. Many also united at the new Idgah ground for the holy prayer. In Cuttack and Balasore too, Muslims commemorated the sacrifice made by their holy leader Prophet Ibrahim.
Prophet Ibrahim was ready to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command. But, before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. Thus, the day is commemorated by slaughtering domestic animals, such as goat, sheep, lamb, buffalo and so on," explained a Maulvi.
