Odisha: HC Reverts Order, Jharsuguda Collector To Be Reinstated | Odisha News

Cuttack: Regressing from its August 13 verdict, the High court on Monday ordered Jharsuguda Collector Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan to be reinstated but to be posted in another capacity. Pradhan was initially suspended for defying the HC’s previous order relating to a liquor shop’s license matter in the district.

The state government on August 14 had suspended Pradhan upon receiving the order from the honourable court.

However, a bench comprising of Chief Justice KS Jhaveri and Justice KR Mohapatra recalled the decision after Odisha government filed a petition in this regard. Reportedly, the collector also tendered an unconditional apology.

Earlier this year, the Jharsuguda district administration had issued a demand notice to a liquor trader identified as K.B. Patnaik over non-payment of dues. Patnaik had challenged the notice in the High Court following which the court had directed the district administration not to take any action against him.
