Odisha: Major Fire Breaks Out In Bhubaneswar Railway Station’s Waiting Room | Odisha News


Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in capital city here today morning after a major fire broke out in the passenger’s waiting room of Bhubaneswar Railway Station here today morning.

Shaktiswara Biswal, supervisor of house-keeping said, “The incident occurred at around 8:30 am. The fire was in full force for more than 15-20 minutes.”

Constable Ananta Dalei said, “I was doing my duty in the parking area when I noticed fire near the second class waiting room. I rushed to the station master’s room and grabbed the fire extinguisher. I tried to douse the flames but the intensity had grown. By that time, the fire services personnel had reached the spot and helped in the extinguishing process.”

While the flames were doused in time, no casualty has been reported so far. Fire services personnel rushed to the spot as soon as panicked passengers screamed for help and ran out to save themselves.

While some said that a lit cigarette was the cause, some also said that the fire occurred due to short-circuit. The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
