Dense Fog Increases Road Mishaps In Odisha, 5 Killed & Several Injured Across The State


Kendrapara/ Nayagarh: The dense foggy conditions that have been prevailing in the State over the past couple of days have put several lives on danger by causing poor visibility and subsequent road accidents. As many as five people were killed and were several others sustained critical injuries in three separate road mishaps that were reported this morning from across the State.

Four persons died and five others were injured after an SUV collided with a truck near Katia square on Cuttack-Chandbali road due to dense fog. The vehicle was on its way to Bengaluru from Balikana village when the accident took place. Three persons died on the spot while five others were rushed to Nischintakoili Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment. They were later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital, when their condition worsened.

In Nayagarh, three persons sustained critical injuries after an ambulance overturned while it was on its way to pick a patient from Rangamatia. The accident occurred near Daspalla Dam square when the ambulance hit another vehicle and the driver lost control over the wheels. All the injured were rushed to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.

In another incident in Jagatsinghpur, one person died and two others sustained critical injuries after the two-wheeler they were riding in rammed into a tree near Rahadinga square on Jeypore road. While the injured persons have been admitted to DHH for treatment, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation.
