Odisha Hockey World Cup: Champion Belgium Team Thank People Of Bhubaneswar For Hospitality
Bhubaneswar: The sporting extravaganza of Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup culminated last evening with a nail-biting match between Belgium and Netherlands. With the red team lifting the World Cup, it looks they have someone very special thank for their victory.
The official Twitter page of the team tweeted last night, “Thank you so much and congratulations @TheHockeyIndia for the most epic, best organized and most impressive World Cup ever. Thank you people of India/Bhubaneswar, for your hospitality and kindness ! You were fabulous!”
Olympic silver medallists Belgium claimed their first ever World Cup title thanks to the support and enthusiasm of the fans here. Despite India failing to qualify in the quarterfinals, enthusiasts of Odisha did not let the spirit of the game die. Apart from clicking selfies with the foreign players, the Odisha fans also cheered for every goal and filled the stadium to its brim. They proved to wonderful hosts and supporters of the foreign teams and were indeed ‘fabulous’ as termed aptly by the Belgium team. The team now looks forward to meeting press and public in its home country this Tuesday at 12 o'clock at the Brussels Town Hall and Grand Place.
