Bhubaneswar: All most all major city roads are now cleared, thanks to the tiring work by the various agencies deployed to clear the trees blocking the traffic. Not only the major roads, but even flyovers were not spared by the fury of FANI as its wind speed was more than 200 kilometres per hour (kmph) in the city on May 3, when the very severe cyclonic storm hit the city.

The NDRF team has deployed 420 personnel to expedite the clearing process in the city. While 13 teams with 30 personnel each are in the field, one team is reserved for emergency. The Works Department has formed 29 teams to clear major roads inside the BMC area so that vehicular movement is restored on PWD roads. Similarly more than 150 Fires Service personnel in 7 teams are deployed to clear the fallen trees. ODRAF personnel are also on job in the city to clear the debris.

Meanwhile the Multi-Agency Control Room received more than 671 complaints till 5.45 pm. While nearly 400 complaints were for tree cutting as almost 50 percent of the trees of the city were almost uprooted and more than 70 percent damaged beyond recognition, more than 250 were from other categories including supply of water tankers to affected pockets and damaged electricity poles and more than 10 complaints of lifting of animal carcass.
