Celebration Of Firstborns: Odisha CM Extends ‘Prathamastami’ Wishes
Bhubaneswar: ‘Prathamastami’, the unique ritual held in Odisha that celebrates firstborns and prays for their prosperity is being observed widely across the State today.
On this occasion, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter and wished the denizens of the State. “I extend my best wishes and blessings to all the firstborns on the occasion of Prathamastami. I pray to Lord Jagannath for your well-being and prosperity.”
Every year, the celebration falls on the dark half eighth day - Ashtami - of the month of Margashira month occurring after the eight day of Kartik Purnima, according to the Indian calendar.
The eldest child of every household is offered a lighted lamp ovation followed by elaborate rituals during which the Mantras are recited, early in the morning. The main delicacy of the day is Enduri Pitha, which is loved and relished by Odia people.
